The search for alternative sources of energy has led in various directions. Many communities are burning garbage and other biological waste products to produce electricity. Converting waste products to gases or oil is also an efficient way to dispose of waste.

Experimental work is being done to derive synthetic fuels🃏 from coal, oil shale and coal tars. But to date, that process has proven expensive. Other experiments are underway to harness - power with giant windmills. Geothermal power, heat from the earth, is also being tested.

Lunar New Year or Tet is the biggest traditional festival in Viet Nam. It is held in late January and early February. It's the time when family members reunite and celebrate the occasion together. Some days before Tet, people make Bánh Chưng and some other tradional dishes. Their house is often decorated with plants and flowers, such as peach blossom or apricot blossom. On the first day of the year, people visit relatives, friends and neighbors. Children receive their lucky money inside red envelops. Some people go to pagodas to pray for a happy new yea. Tet is really a time of fun and festival throughout the country.
